What can be refinished and what is the process like for refinishing?
We thoroughly sand, clean and repair chips, cracks, holes, rust, or burns in the bathtub. We can fix porcelain, cast iron, steel, or fiberglass tubs. We can also refinish fixtures such as sinks. We clean the surface and completely mask off the surrounding area. Preparing the surfaces for refinishing may also include removing or stripping any other coatings if the bathtub has been refinished before. Next our technicians bond, prime, and apply several coats of our acrylic coating which produces a hard, shiny, long lasting finish that looks brand new. Last, we remove all masking paper and apply new mold resistant caulking to your newly refinished fixture.
How long will it take? I can’t be without my bath tub for even a few days.

How durable is it?
Just as technology has improved so many things, the refinishing coatings used by Sterling Bathtubs are incredibly durable. Our finishes are designed to stand up to their intended use. However, just like a brand new surface, a refinished surface can be chipped or scratched if it is abused. You will be provided with an information sheet with instructions for how to properly care for your refinished bathtub to ensure its longevity.
How long will it last?
Fixtures refinished by Sterling Bathtubs should easily last 10 to 15 years with proper care and maintenance.
My tub really needs some work. Shouldn’t I just throw it out and get a new one?
Why spend all that money on a new tub, when we can save you money and make your old tub look just like new again? Consider the cost of ripping out an old tub (and the potential cost of replacing tiles) and compare it to the cost of a refinished tub. The potential time frame that you will be without a usable bath tub also vastly increases with extensive renovation.
When you refinish the tub, does it look like it has been painted?
Not at all! In fact, many customers have asked us if we re-glaze with porcelain – it looks that good!
Our tub looks horrible, but we’re planning on selling our house soon, why should we bother?

What should I do to prepare before the technician arrives?
Simply remove all items from the fixture surface including soaps, bottles, towels, rags and shower curtains etc.
